We’re all in the same boat …which says something

Isn’t it crazy how alone you can feel if you have a bad experience sexually? I must be the only one etc etc. I think this app proves the opposite - we’re all not alone and actually all normal.

This is my story. I opened up emotionally to a girl I was really into, been more single than in relationships generally in my life - I’m 35 had plenty of shorter term relationships and lots of casual flings but never felt fully in love.

She reacted awfully when I said this, as if there was something wrong with me emotionally.
No surprises after….i then couldn’t get hard with her - her response “this has never happened to me before” and made me feel it was my fault/something wrong with me. Absolutely killed my confidence (prior to that never had an issue with ED)
It shows how much horrible reactions can get into your head. Makes you think you’re alone and there’s something wrong with you and you can really spiral (I did)
I think this app clarifies the opposite, we’re all human and every guy will go through this/lose sexual confidence now and then . After an emotionally bad experience your body automatically turns its fight or flight response on (via the amygdala) - it’s trying to protect you from another bad experience. The problem, as we know, is it doesn’t help erections. I’ve found fully concentrating on the girl (visually) and sensations really help, sometimes you’ll fail but the brain has an amazing way of learning through repetition ( neuroplasticity). You can’t control your thoughts but you can decide what to give attention to. Do it enough, see positive results and you can unlearn the stress response.
Anyway, thought I’d add if helps anyone.

It sounds as though you have managed to do a lot of thinking and positive re framing after a really horrible experience. Great job and thank you for sharing where you are at with it all : )
