Getting over prone masturbation

When I was younger, I accidentally trained my body to only masturbate in the prone position. For those who aren’t familiar, it’s when you lie face down and essentially hump the bed. Mojo wrote a blog about it here:

I’ve been slowly training myself in masturbation to use my hands more and sit up or lie face up, which I’m happy about. But I still revert back to my tendencies when I’m with a partner. The issue is that prone masturbation does not simulate sex at all…you are putting so much dry pressure on your penis, which is basically the opposite of the pleasure of PIV or oral stimulation. The other thing is that because I was pressing my penis so hard into my bed, I wasn’t orgasming with a full erection. So now when I’m with a partner trying to get a full erection, my body doesn’t really know how to do it. I’m wondering if anyone else has dealt with overcoming prone masturbation, and how you worked to feel comfortable with a partner.
