Condom issues/suggestions

Any tips for how to stay hard when you have to break the moment to get a condom on? I’ve found it tricky to stay in the moment and stay out of my head when I have to stop mid-foreplay to sort this out. Often, I’ll get hard but then lose my erection as I’m getting the condom on/just after I’ve got it on. Thanks!

You should try incorporate it into the foreplay. Have them put it on for example. Similarly having it near to hand could also help from a practical side. Additionally it does not need to go immediately on once it’s retrieved, try build back up from an earlier point.

Have it very handy, ask partner to wank you while you fumble about getting it ready, or wank yourself. I just told my wife the very unsexy process turns me off a bit so I like some stimulation, she completely understood and actively looks to keep me stimulated when sorting logistics like comdoms, lube, toys etc. Team effort

As lame as this sounds, incorporate it as part of how you masterbate. Sometimes I’ll use a sex toy and I’ll put on a condom as an aspect of playing with myself. Make sure to use lube so you don’t rub the condom into pieces. This practice makes me more confident that I can do it on my own and thus know I can do it. That little extra practice has retrained my brain to stay harder when putting it on.

I don’t know if it helps to know that going back to condoms in my marriage reignited my long dormant psychogenic ED. Trying thinner or even larger ones actually helped but ultimately I find the awkwardness of putting one on and then if I get past that the absence of friction really kills my erection.

More just an expression of solidarity rather than helpful advice. This experience is shared.

Wow this is such a great idea—I have the same issue and never thought to “practice” in that way. It definitely sounds like it will help.

Yes to that last point! Remember to be kind to yourself and your penis, and once the condom is in your hands, give yourself time to go back into the mood if necessary, no rush and no stress!
