Hey visible-jade-marmot!
Great question.
Visual sexual stimuli (like sexy videos, pictures, and GIFs) can be a fast track to arousal for lots of people. Some experts even theorize that men are more turned on by visuals than women and that there might be some evolutionary advantage — a sort of “see a mate from afar and instantly get in gear” adaptation. Those sorts of theories are complex and difficult to prove, of course. But it can be a helpful rationale to consider.
So it’s completely normal to get turned on and cum quickly when masturbating to visual stimuli.
While you learn how to lengthen your latency period (that’s the fancy term for how long you last), it’s best to do the exercises on Mojo without visual porn so you can slow down and be more mindful about what’s happening in your body/mind while you do them. But I don’t think you need to cut out visual porn completely — many people find it’s nice to have porn as an option for indulging, exploring, or relaxing now and then!
As for your question about whether cumming quickly while using porn helps pinpoint some contributing factor to your experience of early climax, I can’t say for sure. But it really made me think.
Most clinical theories about early climax say that, unless it’s driven by a physical disease, it’s driven by these two things:
-
Neurophysiological factors (like sensitivity of nervous system response, muscular response, etc. — everyone has their own “normal”, but you can learn to train it and change it)
-
Stress factors (anxious thoughts or trying to distract yourself can activate fight-or-flight, which means you’re more likely to finish and/or feel out of control) and behaviors that don’t help
There isn’t much evidence for a direct link between porn use and early climax. For example, the 2021 paper Pornography Addiction: An Exploration of the Association Between Use, Perceived Addiction, Erectile Dysfunction, Premature (Early) Ejaculation, and Sexual Satisfaction in Males Aged 18-44 Years found that:
There was no evidence for an association between IP use with ED, EE, or SS. However, there were small to moderate positive correlations between self-perceived IP addiction and ED, EE and sexual dissatisfaction. Further, self-perceived IP addiction uniquely predicted increased ED, EE and individual sexual dissatisfaction
IP = internet pornography
EE = early ejaculation (aka early climax or premature ejaculation)

This means that as long as you don’t worry or guilt-trip yourself about porn use, it probably won’t contribute to early climax or other common sexual issues.
But that might not be the final word on the matter — I’m interested to see what you and other Mojo members think based on their own experiences
