Reverse kegels - inhale/exhale

For the reverse kegel exercises, the guide tells you to inhale when you โ€œdropโ€ your kegel and exhale when you rest. For me this feels unnatural and makes the exercise much harder. I feel more natural if I exhale when dropping and inhale when resting. Does it matter? Anyone else feel the same?

I donโ€™t know whether or not it matters but I certainly am able to โ€œdropโ€ better when I inhale rather than exhale

What worked for me much better was inhale, then near the end of it, start pushing out my pelvic floor as I hold my breath, then relax as I exhale. And repeat. For the actual reverse kegel motion, it helps when I kind of flex my abs and subtly rock my hips up and towards my belly, if that makes sense.
