I was doing the negative thoughts exercise. End it and ask you to think about a previous sexual encounter and to think about the negative thoughts you had when things didn’t work out. So I was thinking about it and I’m not sure what to think about the outcome. Because I’ve had so many of these bad experiences my thought process during the event is more like reservation? It’s like things didn’t go well and I’m just accepting things didn’t go well that’s just part for the course so how do I categorise that negative thought I mean what kind of thought is that?
I think it’s important what your problem is. For example, if you have ED and you couldn’t get hard, your negative thought can be “i will never get hard again”. It’s generalization because i think you managed to get hard at least once even if it was just you masturbating alone. And that’s a fact compare to your negative thought what isn’t a fact. Positive thought can be something like “even if i couldn’t use my penis, i got her satisfaction by using my fingers, etc…” or “we could talk it out and the girl was really supporting”.
The main purposes of the exercises is to get out of the negative loop because it’s keep you in a vicious circle.
