Has anyone got any advice, I find when I am close to ejaculation and it is quite early in sex that I find myself sort thrusting to avoid it but I get the impression my wife is wondering why I have stopped and stopped the momentum / mood. Anyone got any strategies to avoid early ejaculation?

I’m interpreting that the “close to ejaculating quite early in sex” means the foreplay was very enjoyable and got you a long way toward the finish line.
Why not just tell the wife, you’re about to climax but want to hold off, and to do that you need to stop and let the sensations cease for a few moments.
That’s what I do when climaxing is too soon in the lovemaking ‘session’ for my liking.
