Has anyone had BETTER libido while using antidepressants?

So we all know the story, antidepressants are meant to make your libido worse, right? But what if your problem was the depression and anxiety in the first place, could they not, then, in theory, improve your libido?

I ask because I am considering taking antidepressants. Iā€™ve never liked the idea. But I suffer from PTSD and general anxiety and my girlfriend has insisted that I try them, and she sees anxiety as the thing limiting me, not only from great sex, but from a great life.

Iā€™ve just had surgery for a knee injury and during that time Ive had to take a lot of pain killers and while in hospital I had to take anti anxiety medications for short term relief that I found worked, and actually, for whatever strange reason, I was quite horny in hospital. I am not sure if it was because the injury made me feel alive, or laying around in my jocks being tended to by nurses, but either way something was working for me sexually in there. Thatā€™s probably a weird aside, but anyways.

What I want to know is has anyone had a better libido while taking antidepressants? I suspect the libido quelling side effects donā€™t happen to everyone, and surely not everyone on antidepressants has a limp noodle. If anxiety is my sexual problem could antidepressants genuinely be my cure?

My doctor has prescribed me an antidepressant he says wont effect my libido and also cialis so looking forward to trying that soon. The antidepressant is called Mirtazapine for those interested

Logic is pretty sound. Iā€™d say give it a try.
Two things I will say.
1 it might work as a solution at first then gradually decrease in effectiveness.
2 someone who took antidepressants for while explained to me they are addicting. So, be careful.
I deal with anxiety myself and my doctor has also brought up medicating. Update us if it works!!

Wellbutrin can help with sex drive same with other antidepressants like citalopram but some people have opposite effect

If your sexual function is being significantly impacted by depression or anxiety, the net effect of managing this better (with medication) may supersede the (sometimes) harmful effect that antidepressants can have on sexual function. Not everyone that takes antidepressants gets every side effect. It would definitely be worth speaking to your doctor about this

Iā€™ve been thinking a similar thing to this as I am dealing with some bad anxiety. Iā€™ve been seeing a psych and using Mojo which I have no doubt have both been helping, however I feel like Iā€™ve kind of plateaued at the moment and am wondering the same as you.

Hi, I spent years on antidā€™s and it did definitely delay climax for me, and as for actual drive I canā€™t remember there being much difference
Overall they caused me a lot of other problems.
There are links to heart valve problems and permanent personality changes with ssriā€™s
I would only use this as an absolute last resort. For me depression and anxiety is a huge factor, but I wouldnā€™t consider using the prescription drugs again
