I’m realizing that most of the time I go into sex, I’m extremely overstimulated.

Each time I revisit the 10 min start stop exercise, I learn more about myself.

Wk1 I started doing this exercise laying on my back, without any external stimuli (no porn, no audio) laying on my back using my hand. I had to stop 3x, but I made it the full 10 mins (first time masturbating w/o porn in probably 10yrs).

Wk2 I progressed to a masturbator toy and a standing position. Every 2 mins I had to stop, and it was extremely difficult, but I made it through.

Wk3 I’m now trying an auto masturbator that moves up and down and spins, lying on my back again because the stimulation is much higher.

What I’ve learned in this process is that when I’m overstimulated, I can move to something that moves the feeling from the head, to the root or shaft. Also, my breaths and adrenaline increase when I’m fucking vs using my hand to stroke, and that’s a lot harder to manage for me right now. Box breathing the entire time also is the key.

I haven’t been having sex with a partner, and I don’t feel I’m ready for that yet, but for the first time in a long time I feel great about the positive progress I’m making. I just have to stay the course and give myself permission to stay in the moment.
