Why are erotic stories and audios better than visual porn? Are they not also considered porn?

I asked the same questions. The answers I got was that technically yes, it’s still porn. But without the visual input from full audio-visual porn, your mind has to work that much more to visualize and imagine, which is helpful for waning your dependency off of full porn.

I mean I wouldn’t call them “bad”. They aren’t bad by themselves. But if your main objective is to cut porn entirely, then yeah I suppose you’ll want to avoid those too eventually.
If your goal is to cut porn completely, then I guess yeah, you’d want to phase those out eventually. But there’s nothing wrong or inherently bad with the audios or stories as long as you’re not dependent on them and indulging excessively.

Guess the idea is that you are imagining it in your brain as to seeing it on pixels. You have the freedom to think of what it is like for you instead of watching it for what it is and happening to other people. I might give it a try as a substitute. Going cold turkey will never work.
Before I had access to video (the dark ages…) I’d read Penthouse forum or Variations… I still enjoy reading or listening to stories. Tho it’s likely just as bad for PED as video…
I’ve quit about 90% solo and porn and trying to keep with a regimen of Kegals and have seen some improvement in the ability to get and stay hard enough for sex. (54yo.)

The dopamine hit is way higher from watching porn and messes with the reward system in your brain. I’m seeing a therapist and she said that masturbation and watching porn creates much more dopamine than partnered sex so things like stories will help you feel a more erotic experience rather than just jerking it because that tends to be more about instant gratification.
I would say they definitely are a form of porn, however not an overly-stimulating one. In that sense, the amount of arousal it produces is more comparable to a real sexual experience.
