Daydream a lot? This might be the cause the PA

I’ve been doing a lot research on the psychology and neuroscience behind performance anxiety and Ive narrowed it down to one thing.. having an overactive default mode network (DMN). According to research, it is this part of interconnected regions in the brain responsible for mind wandering, self-reflection, day dreaming and distracting thoughts. Basically, where the inner critic lives, the network responsible for those pesky thoughts of self criticism that pop and distract us from the present moment and stir up fear which causes us to go into fight-or-flight.

The solution is consistently practicing meditation to “rewire” our brain and reduce activity in the DMN. Ive adopted the two words, Here. Now as a reminder to always be in the present moment and improve my attention. Alternatively, microdosing on psychodellic shroom since to quiet down the DNM as well. Any thoughts?

Here and now definitely have been helping me a lot. I’m in a place where I’ve been depressed for a long time, and it absolutely killed my libido and makes it hard for me to last longer than a few mins when I am intimate. I’m doing the work to help myself get back on my feet. Keep fighting the good fight.

That’s an interesting post. I have always day dreamed all my life and have had PA all my life. I I started trying meditation 10 years ago and it did help a lot with general anxiety. I did not notice that much help with PA though. But this site has helped me immensely with PA.

This would explain why ive only fully felt the effects of PA since i stopped smoking pot. Its been years ago, but ever since its been a huge hurdle any time i start seeing someone new.
