It’s a topic that has been on my mind for a while, and I just can’t escape it. Basically is what the title says, every time I log onto Instagram, but ESPECIALLY Twitter, I get looped into these hyper-male Andrew Tate echo chambers that basically say your girl is, or already has, cheated on you, and it’s made me wonder about my last breakup which was over a year ago now even though there were no signs she’d do that at the time. I just hate it, and it’s making me distrusting of women when I consider making them a partner.
Social media does that. It feeds you a message on endless loop and gets in your brain. It can really influence people. There’s a way to reset your feed so that it starts fresh and doesn’t feed you content based on your recent views, I have to do that periodically because it will be loaded up with political bs or some other nonsense based on a few things I viewed.
Deleting Twitter and deactivating Instagram was the best thing I’ve ever done. It forces a recalibration of how you connect with people online (much more one-on-one messaging, which if you’re anything like me is terrifying lol), not to mention what you do when you’re bored, but I’ve found it great for my mental health in the long run.
