Discouraging push notifications

I haven’t been diligent with my usage of the app the past few days so I get it but dang the last two push notifications I’ve received are “Have more discipline or die alone” and " I am a complete failure", not really encouraging me to keep using this app. Like I get it my current exercise is supposed to be about fighting my inner critic but I don’t really feel like seeing my insecurities repeated by an app as motivating. I thought this was supposed to be an open understanding community.

No way it said that! So mean wtf

I never received that notification. Turn them off maybe. I just put “Mojo App” on my to do list daily so I remember to do it.

Hi there, my name is Jordan and I’m the head of customer support at Mojo and I’d love to be of help here.

First of all I would like to assure you that you shouldn’t receive any notifications from us that would be so hurtful or discouraging. We do have some notifications that aim to help you debunk negative thinking, and I suspect your phone has only shown you the example negative thought, but not the follow up advice on how to beat it. If that is the case I’m really sorry for the misunderstanding.

I’d be really eager to look into this further for you to make sure that non of our notifications are open to being misconstrued. Our goal is for Mojo to be a supportive and encouraging space, and so I’ve love to make sure we get this cleared up for you.

Wow this seems like a major bug. I’m so sorry about that. Rest assured that we are looking into this as a high priority per Jordan’s post below

I’ve frequently been disappointed with Mojo’s messaging. Like their advertising with a woman annoyed with her partner’s ED. That’s not the message you try to send in your app — so why send it in the ads? Same with these notifications! Sure there’s reassuring that is supposed to come later, but why push the negative in the first place?

I wasn’t sure what to think when it happened, most of the notifications I get are fine but those two made me wonder if these were AI generated or something. It may just be that my push notifications weren’t showing the full message so it looked more harmful than intended, either way I don’t know. I’d help in whatever capacity I can, though I’m not sure what I can do.

So I am happy to assure you that we try to be really careful and considerate with what messages we put in our notifications, so once again I’m really sorry to learn about the experience you had.

You’ve also already been tremendously helpful by flagging this issue and so we are reviewing our notifications to make sure there aren’t any that may be misleading or formatted poorly. If you do see any further notifications thought that don’t look right I’d love for you to send a screenshot to support@mojo.so as that will help us review this further as well.

Literally it’s an app, “learning” to motivate a human … you’re probably doing better than what it computes. :call_me_hand:
